María del Pilar Callizo, a widely recognized labor and employment law expert and professor, was hired by Estudio Jurídico Gross Brown as a partner to head its labor and employment law practice.
María del Pilar has extensive experience in advising daily and permanent legal affairs, labor and social policy, for individuals and legal entities. Furthermore, she is also venturing into the application of risk committees, safety and health in enterprises. She has successfully represented national and multinational companies during negotiation processes with employees on the purpose of achieving extrajudicial solutions which can result in a faster and cheaper conflict resolution; while providing creative and effective solutions.
With vast experience in labor litigation matters representing workers, managers and national and multinational companies in individual and collective conflicts, in legal proceedings to justify dismissal, compensation for damages, settlement of guaraníes, wrongful termination, declaratory judgment, invalidity of dismissal, payment per consignment and others. María del Pilar also represents her clients in claims before the local Labor Authority.
Maria del Pilar is renowned in the teaching of labor and employment law as she been teaching it for more than 20 years. She prepares lectures, takes part in workshops and seminars in the areas of labor and employment law, International Commercial Negotiations, Arbitration and Mediation, Human Rights, Gender and Development, Public Administration and Governance at the Universidad Católica Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, Universidad Americana and at the Universidad Comunera. She also conducts training and advice workshops for MSMEs (MIPYMES).
María del Pilar has cooperated and worked in the drafting and enacting of several bills, such as the Civil Service Law, the Code of Childhood and Adolescence, Law 2,051 of Public Procurement and its Regulations, Draft Law on MSMEs (MIPYMES) (Law N.º 4457/12) and its Regulations, the Competition and Antitrust law, among others.
María del Pilar is an arbitrator and a mediator of the Centro de Arbitraje y Mediación del Paraguay de la Cámara y Bolsa de Comercio. She has been appointed as arbitrator and mediator in various national conflicts. She is also member of the Ethics Committee of the Centro de Arbitraje y Mediación del Paraguay de la Cámara y Bolsa de Comercio and is included its training list.
Among María del Pilar’s professional legal practice, she advises individuals and companies prior to any decision making in order to avoid litigation and other legal disputes, providing the necessary recommendations in connection to documentation, proceedings or formalities before public or private institutions, among others, previously in order to achieve client satisfaction with efficiency and professionalism from the very beginning.
Currently Member of the Economic and Social Forum of MERCOSUR, representing MERCOSUR Women’s Forum and Member of the Board and of the Employment Committee of the FIA.
