The Estudio Juridico
Gross Brown, continues to specialize, excel and improve in the local
legal scene by providing top-of-the-line legal counseling and services
in commercial, banking, corporate and labor matters. By dedicating
ourselves to efficiency in the problem-solving process and constantly
updating our human resources we managed to gain the stable confidence
of such multinational representative clients as Citibank N.A., Lloyds
Bank Plc, ING/Barrings Bank, Royal Dutch/Shell Group, Texaco Inc.,
and Telefonica Internacional, who actually form part of our client
portfolio. In order to better serve our client’s needs and
to keep up with the new trends and developments in the legal world,
we have recently opened the door to our new office building that
boasts having state-of-the-art technology, which includes, amongst
others, a fully equipped satellite office for those clients who
need to feel right at home when visiting Paraguay.

The law firm concentrates
and specializes in all areas related to corporate and business affairs
such as corporate, commercial, banking, tax and labor law. Ever
since its beginning, when Dr. Sigfrido V. Gross Brown founded the
firm in 1944, it has provided a full gamma of services related to
financial and banking activities. Throughout the years, the Estudio
Juridico Gross Brown was able to stand out amongst its peers in
the area of banking, commercial, and corporate law since it has
been the sole provider of legal services to such international financial
companies as Citibank N.A., Lloyd’s Bank TSB, and ING/Barrings
Bank for more than two decades. Moreover, it has also gained the
confidence of local financial institutions of great prestige such
as Multibanco SAECA and the Asociacion de Bancos del Paraguay (Paraguayan
Bank Association), an entity that embodies all national and international
banks authorized to do business in the country.

As the years passed
and as our reputation grew, we have expanded our client portfolio
to include companies dedicated to the provision of goods and services.
Companies such as Telefonica Internacional, Guerlain, Lockheed Martin,
Shell Oil, Interwave, and Burger King have aided our specialization
in areas of the law specifically related to foreign investment and
the incorporation of foreign capital goods enabling it to gain mastery
in rules regulating corporations and joint ventures with international
companies. Gross Brown has also given special attention to judicial
and extrajudicial affairs related to new laws regulating Agency,
Distribution, and Representation agreements.

Similarly, there has
also been a constant increase in the volume of clients dedicated
to industrial activities such as the Royal Dutch Shell Group.
Likewise, Estudio Juridico Gross Brown has gained experience with
public licitations through its participation in local and international
bids that include the opening of wireless communication bands, radar
control in the national territory, and others, successfully representing
many international companies interested in the telecommunications
area. We currently represent Telefonica Internacional, one of the
few companies participating in the process of privatization of the
sole provider of telecommunications in Paraguay, Copaco, which is
currently owned by the government.

When the firm was
founded, a very strong and effective litigation department was installed.
Ever since its beginning, this department was composed, among others,
of former judicial magistrates and Members of the Court of Appeal.
It currently fulfills the client’s demands in all of the areas
of the law, especially litigation related to business activities
that delve into civil, commercial, labor and tax law. Gross Brown
was able to find a perfect combination by mixing a young, dynamic
and effective department of litigators with the knowledge, expertise,
and counsel of the legal department, achieving efficient and expedite
results.

The attorneys of the
firm are currently affiliated to international organizations like
the Inter American Bar Association, and the Latin American Banking
Institute.
